“Happiness, like unhappiness, is a proactive choice.”
Shortly before Corona pandemics started, I traveled down to London. In London I have met my friend Cami. We studied together at the law school in Wales. Among many things we went into a book store. I was looking for a B-Day present for my friend. Cami recommended me this book. She said: “This book helped me a lot when it comes to my career and lifestyle. I bought it as a present for my friend Strahil, whom I was about to visit in Edinburg, Scotland.
Since then this particular book lay on the back of my mind (it was probably for about 2 years). Now, I finally got my hands on it and I loved it! ❤️
First of all, I was expecting a boring list of “the 7 habits” which will help me to improve my life. I had in mind habits like: waking up early, being organised etc. But those are not the habits this book is about. The 7 habits have more of a spiritual character, I would say. The book talks about listening, paradigm shifts and well balanced life. The book is long and deep. 🌌
This book belongs to the category of timeless classics such as: Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie, The Richest Man in Babylon by George S. Clason, The Millionaire Next Door by Thomas J. Stanley and William D. Danko.
…
Right at the beginning I would like to say that this book is really about people, relationships, psychology and a good balance in life. I was astonished by a number of personal stories and imports the author put in.
“Sow a thought, reap an action; sow an action, reap a habit; sow a habit, reap a character; sow a character, reap a destiny.”
The author mentions that to live by the 7 habits is a lifelong goal. We might read about those habits in this book, but we need to mindfully live by them every day and that is a real challenge.
Habit 1: Be Proactive
Take responsibility. Plan and organise, do not wait for things to happen.
Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind
Reference to visualisation. One of the most powerful tools humans have at their disposal.
Habit 3: Put First Things First
You do not talk the talk, you walk the walk.
Habit 4: Think Win/Win
Always keep the mutual benefit in mind.
Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood
Look what other people makes happy and then seek your own interest.
Habit 6: Synergize
You can always find the 3rd solutions to situations.
Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw
Keep a good balance in your life. By doing sports, changing your environment, talking with people and working.
“To maintain the P/PC Balance, the balance between the golden egg (production) and the health and welfare of the goose (production capability) is often a difficult judgment call. But I suggest it is the very essence of effectiveness.”
Conclusion:
I do not feel like I should be the one who explains this book. Read it and see what it brings to you. I can only recommend it. 💪😉
