The 10X Rule by Grant Cardone

8/∞

There are two questions you are going to ask yourself when seeing this book for the very first time: “Is this actually worth reading?” and “What if it is a massive scam?”

Answer is yassss to both of those questions. Beware, as I would not recommend this book to those who are new to the world of business. Some of Cardone’s statements are true (but they apply only in certain situations) and for somebody with not enough experience it could be difficult to recognise which situation is which. The reason why I am saying this is because part of this book is certainly an American PR hoax, but the good one baby! I enjoyed it! 😃😃😃

I would mainly recommend you to use this book as a “driver”. To get your spirit high, to get yourself motivated, to get shit done. When reading the book, I came to the conclusion that Cardone must be an exceptional salesman, similarly like Kyiosaki. To be honest, I do admire exceptional salesmen very much and I want to learn from them!

Now to the actual content. The majority of statements in this book are true. I have seen them in other biographies such as the one about Richard Branson, Steve Jobs, Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos… Let’s check out some of them:

(1) Massive action.

The 10X Rule says that you should take 10 times more action than expected in order to succeed. E.g. do not make 1 phone call, make 10.

When I was studying in Germany, my ultimate purpose was to learn German. I did not expect that my ability to speak German is just suddenly going to come to me in form of some fucking enlightened. So I put the hours in, on the end of the year I spoke better than some of those who had better German than me at the beginning of the year. You want something? Put the fucking hours and effort in!

According to Cardone, if you have a goal. E.g. to earn 4.000 EUR per month, multiply it by 10. Your goal has to be big enough to keep you motivated.

(2) Take action now!

Not tomorrow, not the day after tomorrow, now!

(3) All shortages are manufactured concepts

Cardone had a really nice take on politicians. Politicians create a false sense of shortage of … everything. Today’s example in times of corona pandemic? Vaccinations! Cardone presumes that politicians need to take care of somebody in order to care for certain groups of citizens and get elected. I agree with him on this stance.

(4) Making excuses is just being negative.

I have nothing to add, because it just is!

(5) Stay ahead of pack.

Just do!

(6) Do not compete, dominate and then outperform them and again dominate.

I love this statement because it is what I do on daily basis.

(7) Do what they won’t do and go where they won’t go.

(8) We looked on what our competitors won’t do. Not what they did do.

(9) Never waste a good recession, baby!

Are you still going to cry how shit is your life in times of corona? Or are you actually going to turn this situation in your advantage?

(10) Obsession

Became obsessed with whatever you do and do not let others to put you down.

(11) Work is better than vacation.

I love this statement. Work is hated by slaves, because it does not matter how long or hard they work. They still need to work! But self-driven individuals like me know that the more work they get done the more they will have.

(12) Always expand never contract.

There is Ricard Branson speaking to me, literally.

(13) Burn the place down!

(14) “Only the paranoid survive.” Andy Grove, Intel.

(15) Go all the way. Similarly like Charles Bukowski

(16) Fear

Chapter on fear was particularly interesting:

“FEAR stands for False Events Appearing Real, which aptly

implies that most of what you’re afraid of doesn’t ever come

to pass.”

(17) Customer acquisition

Remember, Amazon said the only thing they care for is a customer. Those bastards fucking lie! They do not want to give away theirs secrets. They do not care about customer, they care about customer acquisition. It is like some of those rich people like Jeff Bezos wants to look better than they are.

(18) Get moving and figure out rest later

Absolutely love this one. You do not need to know everything when starting a business. You will figure it out later. Would Elon Musk made a superb Tesla, if he would have tried to be perfect from the first moment on? Certainly not!
