Today, I’m going to tap into creative thinking. I have to mention that I have read this book years ago. The book made such a great impression on me that until today I’m able to recollect some of the stories it consists of. I read it in 2015. Back then I was living, working and studying in Wales. On one of my breaks between two jobs which I had to do in order to survive I went to the bookstore in Cardiff. After browsing the bookstore for a few minutes I discovered that 1+1=3. How outrageous! In school they taught me something else.

After reading first few pages I have decided I have to have it.
Now, why was the book so interesting?

1+1=3 is divided into short, straight to the point stories (they are no longer than a few pages). Each story is carrying a message. I’m going to mention two of them.

The first one spoke about a guy who was not good at anything and was fired from every single job he did. He was advised to become “an agent,” because agents are all day on the phone and talk bullshit. Later on in his carrier he signed bands like Aerosmith, Guns N’ Roses, Nirvana and eventually went into the business with Steve Spielberg and established the Dreamworks studios. He did not outperformed others by being tougher, faster or more hardworking, but simply by wondering: “What are others doing.”

The second story is about a little girl who was in Thailand with her parents on holiday. The girl has noticed by the walk on the beach that tide had gone out and water was frothy (sign of tsunami coming). Surprisingly, nobody was concerned (they would be contacted by the authorities, if tsunami was coming, right?) Well, not really. She said it to her parents, who then notified other people and managed to to get cover. The tsunami came and destroyed everything what stood in its way. Lesson to learn? We all shall insists on being heard, regret is worst than embarrassment.
